Member Policy & Code of Conduct

Clique Brisbane is a vibrant, inclusive community that hosts social events for young adults (ages 18-35) with intellectual disabilities and special needs. Our events aim to provide a safe, supportive environment where participants can dance, socialise, and form meaningful friendships.

Member Policy

Our Values:

Clique Brisbane is built on friendship, inclusivity, and fun. We are committed to upholding an atmosphere of respect, dignity, and safety for all members. We do not tolerate bullying, harassment, or aggressive behaviour in any form.

Membership Requirements:

Cliquers (participants) must be young adults aged 18-35 with intellectual disabilities or special needs. We also welcome their families, carers, and allies who share our mission.  Attendees must be able to actively participate in activities and maintain appropriate social behaviour at events.  Registration is required in advance for all events to facilitate smooth event management, ensure sufficient catering, and accommodate specific needs.

Event Registration:
Registration and ticket purchases must be completed online before the event, as no door sales are offered. Registration typically closes at midnight on the Tuesday prior to the event. The entry fee covers event participation, a complimentary soft drink, and a light snack.

Clique Brisbane aims to foster independence among participants, encouraging them to engage and socialise on their own in a safe and supported environment. As we are nearing venue capacity, we kindly ask that only essential carers be present inside the room during the event. If a carer needs to provide 1:1 support and must be in the room, a support ticket for $10 must be purchased via our website before registration closes. This ensures we can maximise space for as many Cliquers as possible to attend and enjoy the event.

Safety and Accessibility:

Clique Events are designed to be accessible, but due to the nature of the activities—high-energy dancing with flashing lights—attendees must be physically adept to ensure their safety and that of others.  Special dietary requirements and specific accommodations can be requested during ticket purchase. We will try to accommodate all dietary requirements but cannot take responsibility for cross-contamination or the unavailability of specific ingredients.

Code of Conduct

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, we ask members to adhere to the following:

1. Respect for Others:

  • Treat all participants, volunteers, and staff with kindness, respect, and empathy.

  • Bullying, harassment, or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the event.

2. Punctuality:

  • Attendees are expected to arrive for registration between 6:30pm and 7:00pm, with the event starting promptly at 7:00pm. Late arrivals can disrupt the event and catering plans.

3. Alcohol, Drug, and Smoke-Free Environment:

  • Clique events are strictly alcohol, drug, and smoke-free to promote a safe and healthy environment for all participants.

4. Dress Code:

  • Attendees must adhere to the dress regulations of the venue, ensuring clean, neat, and respectful attire. For safety and comfort, clothing should not be torn, offensive, overly revealing, or in violation of the venue’s rules.

5. Positive Participation:

  • Come prepared for a night of high spirits and fun. Leave any personal troubles behind and embrace the opportunity to connect and make new friends.

6. Emergency Protocols:

  • If there are medical or behavioural issues, attendees (or their carers) should inform the Clique team in advance during registration to ensure appropriate measures are in place for a safe experience.

Enforcement of our Member Policy and Code of Conduct

Clique Brisbane reserves the right to enforce this policy to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all members. Any behaviour that goes against the spirit of this code may result in a warning, removal from the event, or, in severe cases, suspension of membership
